Kick Malaria Ghana, Urges Accra Mayor To Resign

Mr Kwabena Osei Bonsu, Chief Executive of Kick Malaria Out of Africa, a Non Governmental Organization (NGO) championing the eradication of malaria, has called on the Accra Metropolitan Chief Executive, Mr Alfred Oko Vanderpuije to resign, following the floods and fire which claimed many lives on Wednesday.

Mr Osei Bonsu made the call when speaking to the Ghana News Agency in Accra, on Tuesday, in connection with the floods that claimed many lives and properties.

He said there had been several calls over the years for the AMA Chief Executive to step down from office, saying that, his outfit has not been able to tackle the problems of flooding and sanitation.

He advised the AMA Boss to accept the responsibility of failing to effectively manage the waste in the capital and step down in good faith.

Mr Osei Bonsu called for the enforcement of the tree planting exercise his outfit introduced, and planted more than 4,000 trees across the country in 2008.

He said his outfit was recycling plastic waste and beverage cans as a way of cleaning the city of filth.

Mr Osei Bonsu called for attitudinal change towards sanitation to ensure a clean environment at all times.
