The Frustrations of a DSTV Subscriber

Just as Maja Emeni was about being whipped as per the traditions of the people of Idara, Edo and Bimji for physically assaulting an elder of the community, in the series hotel majestic, which I sacrificed my Sunday church activities for, because my tight weekly schedule deters me from watching the series daily, the notification SEARCHING FOR SIGNAL AT 11881 MHz displayed boldly on my television screen. This wasnt the first time I had to deal with such frustrations anytime there is a minimal atmospheric weather or climatic change mostly rainfall, but have on several occasions resorted to the use of my radio set for live sports updates to keep up with any of the live European league football matches, constantly rebooting my decoder trying my luck to regain my signal or make do with the boring television programs of our local television stations. dstv The frustrations become enormous on days when I have to deal with smart card insertion miseries as I am faced with constant wiping and cleaning of my smart card, which I perfectly know has gathered no dust or dirt to warrant my decoder from malfunctioning. Annoyingly, this same pay per view television channel service providers are quick to notify subscribers on the expiry date of their subscriptions and adjust their subscription fees accordingly with the rise of the dollar. Failure to comply results in immediate disconnection from their network. If Im to rank the poorest service providers in Ghana as per my survey, Multi-choice Ghana will absolutely be competing with the telecommunication companies in Ghana for the top spot. For how long must subscribers who patronize their services come to terms with the bane of adjusting with signal strengths? Why deceive subscribers with better quality services when clientele cant enjoy the least of them? The outrageous deceptions are gradually getting on the neck of some of us who earn little but spend a quota of our income paying bills and in return dont get value for our monies paid. I hope management seriously addresses these issues before legal redress is made an alternative to this predicament. As for the constant repetition of movies on their channels with some dating as late as the nineties, the least said the better.
