Do Away With Self-Interest, NPP Delegates Urged

Benjamin Asonaba-Dapaah, a founder member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has called on delegates of the party’s parliamentary primaries to avoid personal interests and vote for candidates who can work for the party.

He said they should not allow financial baits and promises to influence them in their effort to meet the party’s sole objective of wresting power from the ruling National Democratic Party (NDC) in the 2016 elections.

Mr Asonaba-Dapaah, also a former Member of Council of State, was speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview ahead of the party’s primaries which comes off on Saturday June 13.

He urged the delegates, contestants and all members of the party to show maturity and self-comportment to ensure peaceful and successful elections.

Mr Asonaba-Dapaah called for a fair and clean campaign devoid of insults, mudslinging, lies and violence on the part of supporters and contestants to sustain the peace in the party.

“Let me remind those who would win the primaries that they have the charge to the party and the country, so you should watch your words and actions”, he said.
