Naa Torshie Is Afraid Of Competition Carlos Ahenkorah

A New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary aspirant who was disqualified from contesting in the party’s parliamentary primaries for the Tema West Constituency, Carlos Ahenkorah has accused the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Irene Naa Torshie Addo of frustrating his efforts to contest.

Carlos Ahenkorah is regarded as one of the aspirants with the potential to unseat the incumbent but was later disqualified.

The Regional chairman, Ishmael Ashitey told Citi News, Mr. Ahenkorah was disqualified because he has not nurtured the party at the constituency level.

Some delegates claim his disqualification was masterminded by Naa Torshie Addo.

Carlos Ahenkorah who is challenging attempts to disqualify him said Naa Torshie Addo who is his main challenger has written a number of petitions against his candidature.

Speaking to Citi News after meeting the NPP’s Appeals Committee on Thursday, Mr. Ahenkorah said all allegations against him are frivolous.

“Her issues are so numerous. She is talking about nurturing, she is talking about residence, she is talking about so many things. I have been able to prove to her that I am resident in Tema West,” he stated.

“Infact indeed I won a court case on this matter this year that the Judge accepted the fact that I live in Tema West and I could vote and be voted for in Tema West. Then came nurturing. Nurturing I was able to prove that I have nurtured this constituency but of course she is trying to disprove my information that I gave out as nurturing the constituency. She is not allowing anyone to come because she is afraid of competition,” the frustrated aspirant claimed.

NPP supporters demand Ahenkorah’s clearance

In a related development, scores of  NPP youth believed to be from Tema West Constituency on Thursday gathered outside the party’s head office in Accra to demand the clearance of Carlos Ahenkorah.

This occurred while Carlos was in a meeting with the party’s Appeals Committee over his candidature.
