A 39 year old fetish priest at Bomaa-Asukese in the Tano South District of the Brong Ahafo region, who has allegedly been duping unsuspecting people under false pretences, has found himself in the long arms of the law. He alleged that he was the spiritual force behind the success of some top pastors in Kumasi. Nana Agya Bofour, alias �Nana ku no ma me�, was arrested by the Buffalo Unit of the Ashanti regional police command yesterday together with a colleague fetish priest, moments after he had been entrapped to travel to Kumasi from his Bomaa-Asukese base. The fetish priest was reported have bragged to his clients that his powers were responsible for the success story of Rev. Ebenezer Opambuor Adarkwa Yiadom, the founder and leader of Ebenezer Miracle Worship Center, at Ahenema Kokoben and many other pastors in the Garden City. A police source who briefed Daily Guide, hinted that the suspect had also been blowing his horn to his clients, saying that he was the spiritual father of some top personalities in Kumasi such as Otwinoko, a famous radio presenter with Nhyira FM and Samuel Osei Kufour, former Bayern Munich star. The 39-year old traditional worshipper who wanted to get rich overnight by relying on false contention, has also been boasting to his patrons that he was the spiritual pillar behind several traditional rulers in the country including the chief of Dormaa in the Brong Ahafo region. �Nana Ku no ma me�, as he is popularly known in his area, has been stressing to his clients that he planted �juju� at Rev. Ebenezer�s church for a fee of GH� 1000, hence his large congregation. Similarly, the hoodwink has been deluding his gullible customers that the �black powers� he gave Rev. Ebenezer made him survive several gunshots fired at him when armed robbers attacked him at his house last December. The phony fetish priest, who is currently languishing in police cells, had also told his clients that Rev. Ebenezer pays him GH� 1000, any time he performs rituals for him. In order to convince his customers, any time people flocked to his shrine, �Nana Ku no ma me� would take a phone and pretend was talking to Rev. Ebenezer, who was pleading with him to perform some rituals for him. Because of this deception, �Nana Ku no ma me�s� shrine has been a gold mine as he is incredibly cashing in as a result of scores of people who travel from across the country to seek spiritual assistance from him. Rev. Ebenezer, who was shocked when the information reached him, immediately set out to expose �Nana Ku no ma me�, with the view of redeeming his image which was being dragged through the mud by people who believed the fabrication He thus contracted a team of disguised police officers, who went to the fetish priest and pretended they were looking for spiritual assistance to heal their boss who was suffering from a severe spiritual ailment. �Nana Ku no ma me� who was delighted with the news, instantly agreed to travel with the disguised police officers to Kumasi to perform rituals that would right away heal the man for a fee of GH� 3000. Wanting to accomplish their mission, the team offered to pay �Nana Ku no ma me� GH� 5000, plus a brand new land cruiser (Prado), should he be successful in healing their boss. Desirous to be rich overnight, �Nana Ku no ma me� and his colleague, jumped into a waiting car and headed for Kumasi with the view of healing the man so that he could cash in their expense. Unbeknown to them, they were sent to a guest house where Rev. Ebenezer was already waiting and were asked to identify him. Unfortunately, �Nana Ku no ma me� who was wearing a black smock along with native sandals to match and a bag containing some ritual materials, could not identify Rev. Ebenezer, saying explicitly that �he does not know him from anywhere�. As soon as �Nana Ku no ma me� was told that the man he could not identify was the same man he claimed to have made successful, he went down on his knees begging for forgiveness. He confessed that it was the devil who influenced him and that he was deeply sorry for any inconvenience his actions might have caused the man of God and other persons he had mentioned to his clients. Though he begged incessantly for forgiveness, he was immediately whisked away together with his collaborator by a team of uniformed officers from the regional Buffalo unit who were standing by. In an interview with DAILY GUIDE, Rev. Ebenezer said if not for the continuous attempts by some unscrupulous people to destroy his name, he would have pleaded with the police to pardon the fraudulent fetish priest. Meanwhile, the police told the paper that the two fetish priests would be formally charged and prosecuted after investigations into the case had been completed.
