Deputy General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Anyidoho has lauded the opposition NPP for allowing the youth to now contest in their parliamentary race – a situation he claimed was not permissible in the NPP years back.

According to him, involving the youth in parliament and governance has always been the ideology of late President John Evan Atta Mills and the ruling NDC administration – “That is why president Mills introduced many youth in his administration and you can see the benefit of it”. 

“NPP has learnt some lesson from us [NDC]. We wish them well. The youth policy is the best. The old must pave way for the youth…they are the future leaders,” he said in an interview with OKAY FM’s "Ade Akye Abia" morning show.

The now acting chief scribe of the NDC was discussing 22-year-old Francisca Oteng-Mensah's victory in last Saturday’s NPP parliamentary primary when she defeated the incumbent, Kofi Frempong to represent constituents in Kwabre East in the Ashanti Region.

He noted that although the NPP has brought in new faces for 2016 parliamentary contest, his party is not intimidated.
