Former DCE Welcomes Financial Audit

The former DCE for Gomoa East, Mr. McJewels Annan has described government�s decision to audit the accounts of all district assemblies in the country as a welcome decision. According to Mr. Annan, the intended audit will help clear allegations of financial malpractices being leveled against former DCEs who served under the NPP government by some people. Speaking to Peace FM in an interview, he said the exercise will be in line with section 16 of Act 584 of the Audit Service Act which empowers the Auditor- General to undertake special audits in the interest of the public. Commenting on the failure of the Gomoa East District Assembly for the 4th time to confirm the President�s nominee, Mr. Theophilus Kofi Ampah for the position of DCE for the district. Mr. Annan said the absence of a DCE for Gomoa East is seriously unhelpful to the development of the area.
