Fuel Price Increment Senseless" Kwesi Pratt

Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper Kwesi Pratt Jnr, has described as ‘senseless’ the four percent increment of fuel by the National Petroleum Authority (NPA).

In his view, given the untold hardship in the country, the Mahama-led administration is being insensitive to the plight of Ghanaians.

Prices of petroleum products have gone up by 4 % with the exception of premix fuel and residual fuel oil. NPA explained that the move forms part of the full deregulation of the petroleum downstream sector.

According to the authority, Oil Marketing Companies will start announcing their ex-pump prices for petroleum products and display their prices at their retail outlets.

But Kwesi Pratt on Adom FM Thursday, bemoaned the inhumane nature of government.

He said government always refuse to consider the citizens’ opinion but quickly rush to implement directives that will affect Ghanaians negatively.

Kwesi Pratt urged government to be candid with the citizenry when taking such a sensitive decision.

“Why can’t government be truthful to Ghanaians? It is these same citizens who pay taxes but all you could do to make them happy is to increase fuel prices. I think it does not make sense and so they should look at it again,” he fumed.
