Trader Charged For Defiling Two Girls

A 26 year-old trader has appeared before the Juaso Circuit Court for allegedly defiling two girls, both 14 years, at Akronwe in the Ejisu-Juaben Municipality.

Charles Agyapong who was arrested three years later after committing the first crime has been remanded into Police custody.

He has pleaded not guilty to two counts of defilement.

Prosecuting Police Chief Inspector Birikorang Peasah told the court presided over by Mr Fredrick Tetteh that the accused on August 13, 2012 defiled the first victim and fled the town.
Prosecution said there was a gospel crusade in the town on the said day, during which he lured the victim to an uncompleted building and had sex with her.

A witness in the case spotted the accused sexually abusing the victim, compelling him to flee the scene.
The witness informed the mother of the victim who made a formal complaint at the Peminase Police Station.
The Police after issuing a medical form for the victim to attend hospital mounted a search for the accused.

Mr Peasah said the accused who secretly returned to the town this year was arrested on June 9, by members of the Unit Committee after defiling another girl.

This time, according to the prosecutor, he lured the victim who had gone to do her homework at a friend's place to his house at about 2200 hours on June 4.

When she returned home, the victim informed her parents who reported the incident to the Police, leading to the arrest of the accused.
