Bankswitch Judgment Debt: This Is Criminal...Is Prez Mahama Aware Of This? - Kabila Quizzes

CPP former National Youth Organizer, James Kwabena Bomfeh says the Ministry of Trade's correspondence with Destination Inspection Companies (DICs) on the payment of judgment debt owed Bankswitch is a criminal activity.

Speaking on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" programme, James Kwabena Bomfeh told host Kwami Sefa Kayi that it is criminal for the Sector Minister Dr. Ekwow Spio-Garbrah to write the letter.

He believed the import of the Minister's letter is to "mortgage" Ghana supposedly to the company, Bankswitch.

He therefore questioned the Minister's authority to issue such letter.

Where in the Procurement Law is the Minister of Trade deriving his authority from in issuing this letter? This is criminal. This is criminal. This is criminal.”

Where is your strength coming from to write this letter; mortgaging Ghana’s future? What is this…What kind of country are we building? We keep doing the same mistakes and then turn around when we its ended, we want to blame somebody yesterday."

He further asked whether President John Mahama was unaware of the issuance of the letter which to him can potentially destroy the country's economy.

Kabila also sought to know the advice that the Attorney General Madam Marietta Brew Appiah Oppong offered before the correspondence was exchanged with DICs.

There are contradictions coming from the same government…This letter and the issues we’re discussing have far reaching consequences...Was this issue discussed in Parliament? His Excellency, are you aware of this? The Minister for Justice and Attorney General Mrs. Marietta…Brew Appiah Oppong, what advice did she offer on this?”
