An Advice To NDC Legislators: Big Names Dont Win Elections But Performance

Following the stunning results that trickled in the aftermath of the New Patriotic Party’s parliamentary elections held on 13th June, 2015, a member of the National Democratic Congress has called on legislators in his party to emulate the tactics used by legislators in the NPP who managed to retain their respective seats.

Alhaji Ibrahim Dori, predicted that he foresees a massive shakeup in the NDC should legislators operating on the ticket of the party refuse to heed to his call.

In an interview with Peacefmonline.com he explained that in the case of Hon.  Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, who is the minority leader in parliamentary, he stood the test of time and had an overwhelming endorsement because he worked harder and developed a direct relationship with his constituents.

In the just ended parliamentary elections held in 245 constituencies, delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) shocked a number of incumbent Members of Parliament (MPs).

Twenty-four of the MPs, many of them front benchers, were, in their bid to contest the 2016 parliamentary elections on the ticket of the NPP, rejected by the delegates for various reasons.

Alhaji Dori further called on the NDC legislators to learn some lessons from the NPP’s elections and exhibit high performance ratio coupled with respect for the constituency or face a similar shake up to the 2016 parliamentary primaries.
