Woman Escapes Death

A middle aged woman over the weekend narrowly escaped death when an MTN telecommunication mast fell into her house at Mile 7, a suburb of Accra.

The mast, which was situated near the residence of Mrs. Gloria Agyeman, came tumbling down after over two hours of heavy downpour, accompanied by strong winds on Saturday.

This occurred when the cables joining the pylon to the generator were snapped by the strong wind, leaving it to fall into the next house.

Mrs. Agyeman, who claimed she had at the time of the incident gone for a wedding, said she could have been trapped by the mast.

The fear-stricken woman stated that the erection of the mast near her residence had been a source of worry to her.

According to her, anything could have happened to her, had it not been the wedding that she attended.

Another neighbour who gave her name as Ceci, sharing in the sentiments of Mrs. Agyeman, said the incident could have sparked fire if there had not been a blackout at the area.

The storm also ripped off the roofs of some buildings in the vicinity and interrupted network connection for several hours.
