Angry Grannies & Grandpas To Prez Mahama: We Are Tired Of Your Vague Promises

They have been filled with rage to the brim and can no longer accept ‘vague’ promises when it comes to dealing with the economic hardships and ‘dumsor’ woes presently in Ghana.

Grannies and grandpas today took over the streets of Kumasi to demonstrate against President Mahama and to give a piece of mind concerning WAEC’s decision to cancel five BECE papers.

The demonstration dubbed ‘Merewafo resu’ to wit grandmothers are crying, commenced at the Culture Centre and ended at the Abyss Park in Kumasi. Peace FM’s correspondent in the Ashanti Region Sampson Kwame Nyamekye, reports that the Regional Police Command provided security for the older folks during the march.

He spoke to one angry demonstrator who claims ‘dumsor’ under President Mahama has pushed most of their grandchildren into having premarital sex leading to teenage pregnancy.

She hinted that the group would travel down to the Greater Accra Region if their call falls on deaf ears.

One granny had this to say to Sampson: “Since we came to this world, we have never been in this state before. Things have become tougher in Ghana and you can see this when you visit Suame Magazine. We no longer have people working there”.

“There is no light for our children to use during studies. When darkness falls, they hide behind structures and are impregnated. We don’t know what President Mahama is expecting from us. We are tired of him. We will come to Accra if he refuses to heed to our call."
