The 21-year-old shot stopper says he is satisfied with his performance this season, before refuting claims of goalkeeping crisis in Ghana.
West Africa Football Academy (WAFA) goalkeeper Felix Annan says he is happy with his performance so far in the Ghana Premier League which has seen his side occupying the third position.
The 21-year-old, who is on loan from defending champions Kumasi Asante Kotoko, has been a key player for WAFA this season. He is currently rated as one of the best goalkeepers in the domestic league.
“The season has been wonderful for me so far and I am grateful and happy with how things went for me especially in the first round. Too bad I am injured this 2nd round but I am praying to come back soon to complete the season,” Annan told Goal.
“I am happy that people have noticed my performance in the league and have called for my national team call up. Other goalkeepers are doing great as well and the national team coaches have their views and assessment of every player. In life, everyone's chance comes, so if I am not called up to the national team today I will someday. All I need to do now is to keep working hard and waiting for my time.”
Annan further debunked claims that Ghana is facing goalkeeping crisis especially in the national team, while maintaining that he would love to make a return to Kotoko.
"We are not having goalkeeping problems in Ghana. There are lots of good goalkeepers around. They just need opportunities to shine and people also should have patience for their time to come.
"I still have a contract with Kotoko and would always love to wear the shirt again because I love the club and the supporters. However, I really can't talk about the future. I only want to concentrate on my good job at WAFA this season.
Annan has previously trained with Belgian giants Club Brugge.
