New EC Boss Must Be Listening: Congrats

Although the court is yet to determine the process of appointing the electoral commissioner or otherwise. The Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG) in search for a peaceful and stable Ghana, is not against the appointment of the new EC. Hence, we congratulate the new electoral commissioner for her new office.

AFAG in response to the call by the presidential candidate of the NPP after the Supreme Court verdict on Ghana's 2012 elections in 2013, congratulated President John Mahama and called for a united Ghana going forward.

Madam electoral commissioner, there is no other window of opportunity should the 2016 elections be grounded again in an electoral dispute. As you step to work in your new office, you have only 2 choices for a working principle.

Either you consider serving your God & country in search of a peaceful and stable Ghana for your children and children’s children or you sacrifice this God given virtue to the whims and caprices of your appointing authority obviously to jeopardize the stability of this country.

We hope you will be firm but listening. A few women in the past few years have brought their public office into disrepute. We urge you not to follow same. The role of IPAC as a consultative forum for stakeholders should be not be over looked and undermined.

Madam EC you are faced with the challenges of electoral reforms, strengthening the legal unit of the electoral commission, transparency in the use of IT for your electoral operations and adhering strictly to the rules and regulations of elections.

We will give you the necessary support to work. We urge all Ghanaians to rally behind our new electoral commissioner. Let us give the EC benefit of doubt.

God bless Ghana

Signed:
