Stephen Appiah's Wife & Children At Testimonial (PHOTOS)

Stephen Appiah's testimonial game attracted alot of spectators to the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium, Accra including two ex-Presidents of the Republic of Ghana, Flt Lt Jerry John Rawlings and John Agyekum Kuffour and the sitting President, John Dramani Mahama.

The first half exchanges failed to produce any goal.

Back from recess, the former Juventus midfielder broke the deadlock of the game with a well taken free kick to put the Appiah IX in the driving seat, but Asamoah Gyan the skipper of the Black Stars restored parity.

Former striker Baffour Gyan, restored the lead for Appiah XI, before Ben Acheampong snatched the equaliser for Black Stars to see the game end 2-2 at full time.

The game which was played in a very entertaining atmosphere saw Ghana’s two former Presidents Jerry Rawlings and John Kufour in attendance to bid a final farewell to Appiah

President John Mahama also graced the occasion and took the ceremonial kick off before the testimonial game commenced.

Former African best footballers Samuel Eto’o and Emmanuel Adebayor as well as various former playing mates of Appiah featured in his select side that faced the Black Stars.

Stephen Appiah was named Black Stars captain in 2002 and hanged up his boot as Black Stars player in 2010, following the World Cup and is considered one of the greatest to feature for his country in a career that saw him score 14 goals in 67 caps for the Black Stars.

Appiah is revered by most Ghanaians, after he captained the Black Stars to qualify for their first ever FIFA World Cup in 2006 and again in the 2010 mundial in South which Ghana became the third African country to reach the quarter  finals, the best feat for the continent.

He started his professional football with Accra Hearts of Oak, before plying his trade abroad with clubs like Udinese, Parma, Brescia Juventus, Fenerbache, Cesena,Bologna and Vojvodina.
