Elvis Afriyie Ankrah Should Refund Our Monies To Us - Songo

Radio Sports Presenter, Patrick Osei Agyemang, affectionately called Countryman Songo says former Minister of Youth and Sports Elvis Afriyie Ankrah must refund every penny he spent during the Brazil FIFA World Cup.

According to Countryman Songo, the Minister should account for the monies that were squandered under his watch as Head of the Ministry.

His comments come on the heels of the release of the government's white paper and report by the Dzamefe Commission which exposed the misconduct of some football administrators and the former Minister.

The white paper was issued pursuant to the agreement by the nation and the Presidential Committee that any person indicted by the report will be sanctioned.

Speaking to host Kwami Sefa Kayi, Countryman Songo noted that the former Minister Elvis Afriyie Ankrah should not go scot free without refunding tax payers' contributions to them.

Nobody is witch-hunting anybody. So they should get their facts right. It’s simple. They are failing to admit that they didn’t do the right thing…They don’t want to accept responsibility because you’re in charge. Football people and the Sports Ministry, you’re in charge. You must take this responsibility.

He was therefore of a strong view that pressure should be brought to bear on Hon. Afriyie Ankrah for him to refund all monies due the country.

The controversial sports presenter later turn his firing cylinders on the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and urged its President, Kwesi Nyantakyi to account for the monies paid to the national team during friendlies.

According to him, the GFA Boss should make bare expenditure on the Black Stars and further demanded that football authorities begin to investigate friendly matches involving the national team.

Fire burn him. Black Stars, the nation wants to know the pattern of accountability…Everyone in the nation wants to know. We must give account…So, the national team (Black Stars) which they have used to play friendly matches…We want to know. We must investigate the friendly matches. How did things go? How much money was involved? Is it the country that paid them or they rather got funds from organizers or the country we played against…Where lies the witch-hunting?” he questioned.
