Court Remands Cop, 2 Others Over Cocaine

A Sunyani Magistrate’s Court has remanded a police officer, Lance Corporal Gibson Atira Kaba and two others into prison custody to for allegedly possessing a whitish substance suspected to be cocaine.

The two others are Kofi Minta, alias Kofi Nana Adu and Aziz Sulemana. They are to reappear in court on July 17, 2015.

The Brong Ahafo Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent Christopher Tawiah told the Daily Graphic that the Police at Chiraa during a night patrol arrested Minta with 24 foils of a whitish substance suspected to be cocaine.

According to him, Minta led the police to a house at Sunyani Zongo where he said Sulemana supplied him with the substance.

In that house a quantity of the whitish substance was also retrieved during which Lance Corporal Kaba was seen using some of the suspected cocaine. He was also arrested and together with Minta and Sulemana, they were put before the Magistrate’s Court which remanded them.

Meanwhile, the police have appealed to the general public to be on the lookout and report people involved in criminal acts for prosecution.
