Two people were killed at Essienimpong in the Ejisu Juaben Municipality when part of a building collapsed on them.
A woman, Selkina Sulemana, 48, and her son Eric Adjei, five years, were said to be walking past the building when part of the eight-bedroom mud house collapsed on them.
Her other two children identified as Wasila, three, and Sala, seven, who sustained injuries are on admission at the Church of God Clinic.
None of the tenants of the mud house was injured.
Briefing the Daily Graphic, Mr Aeron Prince Duah, a former assembly member of the area, who was an eyewitness, said the building collapsed around 4pm last Thursday.
According to Mr Duah, he and others who were at the scene of the incident carried both the dead and the injured to the hospital.
He explained that the mother, who was scared about the possibility of the dilapidated building collapsing on them, decided to move the family to a nearby house, but they could not reach there before a nearby building collapsed on them.
Some residents of the area the Daily Graphic spoke to expressed shock at the death of the woman and injury to the two other children.
They said just before the incident, the children were seen playing with some others in the community.
For his part, the District Coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Mr Sadat Kyeremanteng, confirmed the accident to the Daily Graphic, and added that the remaining four bedrooms were safe for habitation.
