A 50-year-old man has committed suicide after accidently hacking his son to death around 4 pm Saturday.

The deceased, Kwadwo Obeng, a farmer according to reports was using the machete to drive away a goat when it slipped from his hand and hit his son.

The nine-year-old boy was said to have bled profusely and was rushed to the Obuasi government hospital.

The unfortunate incident occurred at Old Akrofrom, a farming community in Adansi in the Ashanti region.

Kwadwo Obeng for fear of being charged for murder drunk poison and died but the young boy survived the attack and he is being monitored by doctors.

The body has been deposited at the Obuasi government hospital morgue.
