Harrison Afful Close To Joining UAE Side Al Wahda

Versatile Ghanaian left-back Harrison Afful is expected to fly to Abu Dhabi in the coming days to complete a deal with United Arab Emirate side Al Wahda SC, Ghanasportsonline.com can exclusively reveal.

The diminutive Ghanaian refused a contract extension from Tunisian side Esperance after his deal ran out at the end of last month and has now become a free agent.

The 26-year-old spent six glittering seasons with the Blood and Gold where he won four league titles, but failed to reach agreement with the 2011 CAF Champions League winners.

The Emirati giants have been increasingly linked with a move for the Ghana 2014 World Cup star, having reportedly made him their top transfer target.

The Universal Team announced reaching a three-year agreement for Afful in February this year, but the deal was terminated with Al-Wahda stating that they did not receive any go-ahead from his employers, Esperance.

The player’s agent, Lotfi Zarrouk is reported to have told Tunisia Radio that "Afful will move to Al Wahda next season", and it is believed that the former Asante Kotoko man will fly to Abu Dhabi in the coming days to ink a deal with the oil rich-side.
