Players and officials of the national U-20 team, the Black Satellites, have finally received their World Cup bonuses.

The amount representing qualification bonuses from the group to the 1/16th stage of the tournament hosted by New Zealand has been outstanding since the competition ended on June 20.

But Mr. Vincent Oppong Asamoah, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, told the Graphic Sports last Saturday that the bonuses were paid some two weeks ago.

“I can confidently tell you that the Black Satellites have received their bonuses two weeks ago.
The delay was not deliberate on the part of the Ministry, sometimes there are delays in the release of the funds from government," he added.

Even though the Deputy Minister failed to disclose the amount involved, the Graphic Sports gathered that each Satellite received $6,000.
According to sources, each of the three matches attracted $2,000, making a total of $6,000 for the qualification bonuses.
But officials of the team, apart from the head coach Sellas Tetteh, received $3,000 each.

The Satellites won two of their group games against favourites Argentina whom they defeated 3-2 and Panama (1-0). They drew 1-1 with Austria in their opening game.
The Ghanaians were, however, defeated 3-0 by Mali at the 1/16th stage.
