STATEMENT: President Must Relieve Asaga And The Entire NPA Board

Following the recent 15% hikes in the petroleum products by the government; it has therefore appeared to Ghanaians that there is a total lack of transparency and trust among the entire National Petroleum Board over its activities.

Frankly, the decisions of the National Petroleum Authority on petroleum issues is rendering the entire citizenry restless as the future of their livelihood are in a complete dismal.

Now it appears that in every fortnight, Ghanaians have no choice than to accept any increment of petroleum products whilst the government is failing to address the daily wage of the citizenry.

Unfortunately, this act by the government is totally absurd and that CAF would resist any attempt by the government to increase petroleum products in the future.

As it is, NPA has totally deviated from its mandate of reviewing petroleum products. As we speak, a barrel of crude oil cost $56.93 and the market price of the commodity has been downward for the past months.

All they say is the cedi is weak but who cause am? The excuses from NPA is becoming too much and it is high time that someone is made answerable for the incompetence of the NPA.

As it is, the present administration of the NPA lacks credibility to determine petroleum products. It is suspected that both the NPA and BDCs have join hands to rob the state.

However, we believe that the dream of a better Ghana can be achieved if the President put in place measures to include all the opposition parties in the day to day running of the NPA.

We have about 6 opposition parties and each party should provide 2 experts whom we believe have vast knowledge in the field of energy issues to determine the prices of petroleum products.

When this is done, we believe that by virtue of their status as opposition figures, there would have empathy towards Ghanaians and review the prices of the petroleum product in accordance to the Act which the NPA operates.

In so doing, Ghanaians would have total reliance in the government regardless of the review of petroleum products put forward by the opposition members.

CAF is therefore suggesting to the President to relieve Moses Asaga and the entire NPA board since their act is seen by many as un Ghanaian.

Long live Ghana!

Long live CAF!

And God bless us all!

Signed!
