Asamoah Gyan Expected In China On Wednesday

The Al Ain striker will be travelling to China where he is expected to finalise a reported move to Shanghai SIPG. Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan is expected to travel to China on Wednesday to complete his reported contract with Shanghai SIPG. The former Sunderland striker has attracted interest from several clubs, with the Chinese Super League side believed to be frontrunners. Former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson, who handles the nine-year-old outfit, is keen on bringing the 29-year-old striker on board to challenge the recent capture of Senegalese striker Demba Ba by their archrivals Shanghai Shenhua. Shanghai SIPG have confirmed their interest in Gyan but have rubbished reports of tabling a 20 million offer. "If all goes on well, he [Gyan] will fly to Shanghai on Wednesday. However, it's not true we have paid 20 million to Al Ain. It's absolutely high," a statement on the club's official website said on Monday. Also, Shanghai SIPG, who will compete in the 2016 AFC Champions League, are reported to be ready to improve Gyans weekly earnings to $250,000. Gyan, who joined Al Ain from Sunderland in 2011, has won three Arabian Gulf League titles and one President's Cup, scoring more than 100 goals in the process. He is Ghanas all-time top scorer with 48 goals from 90 caps.
