The NDCs Benson Tongo Baba, a retired Deputy Director General of the Ghana Prisons Service and former chairman of the Ghana Olympic Committee, would soon be sworn in as the new legislator for the area.

He polled 10,366 representing 42.31% of the total votes cast as against the NPP's Thomas Duanab's 6,845 representing 27.94% of the total votes cast.

The NPP's candidate was neck-to-neck with the PNC's Wombeoto Namailteng, who garnered 6,836 representing 27.90% of the total votes cast followed by the PPP which had 214 votes representing 0.87%. The GFP polled 58 votes, NVP had 93, UPP managed 49 while the IPP polled a paltry 38.

Shortly after winning the seat, the MP-elect spoke to United Television (UTV) and stated that it was "normal" for the NDC to recapture a traditionally safe seat for the ruling party.

"...i didn't consider any of my opponents as a threat because i knew from the start that majority of the voters would endorse the NDC...They made an effort but it wasn’t a big deal”, B.T Baba stated.

Mr. BT Baba further indicated that he was going to put his policies into action and ensure the area gets developed under him.
