Young, promising Ghanaian movie star, Eddie Nartey, who is gradually becoming one of Ghana�s favourite and an unbeatable force to reckon with in the home video industry, has thrown a challenge to Ghanaian producers to snuff the best out of him.
The dark actor who was brought up by his grandma after his mom passed on to glory when he was a little boy, said even though he has carved a niche for himself within the short period that he�s been in the movie industry, he is not quite happy with the feat he has achieved so far. This, according to him, is because he has not got the needed opportunity to display his talent.
In an exclusive interview with Beatwaves, Eddie said though he has featured in a number of movies, none of them was challenging enough to be described as his favorite.
�Seriously, I have not done what I want to do yet. I don�t even classify this time as the beginning of my career. I see it as I have not started yet. Though I have done a number of movies, I have not got my favourite yet. I want something more challenging that can bring out what is really in me.
I�m really not satisfied with what I have done so far. I have not seen the best movie yet,� he spoke his mind.
Thus he challenged producers to give him the platform that would bring out the best in him. �Somebody should be able discover you as an actor and bring you out of what you are, and do things that will affect people�s lives positively,� he added. Eddie, within a short period, has bagged for himself different nicknames due to his roles in movies.
Currently, he is one of the new faces trailing big names as Majid Michael, Van Vicker, Omar Sheriff, and Daniel Adeleye among others.
Like many movie stars, he nailed mainstream acting from the stage. He used to be a member of the Light House Chapel Drama Group; but after ending his Visual Arts course at the Holy Trinity Cathedral Senior School in 2002, he was introduced to Alluta of Things We Do For Love fame, who owns the drama group, Pacesetters.
The actor who hails from Prampram in the Greater Accra Region but grew up at Korle Gonno in Accra thus joined the Pacesetters drama group and got some training to act. He then moved on to join actor David Dontoh�s group called Kozi Kozi. There, he polished his acting skills till 2005 when he moved to the University of Ghana School of Performing Arts to study the arts.
Eddie�s first screen movie was Wedlock Of The gods by Venus Productions. He has since then been growing, a fact he refuses to accept. Currently, he has featured in more than 15 movies, with some yet to be released.
