Gov't Lauds Cultural Village Project

The Minister of Chieftaincy and Culture, Mr. Alex Asum Ahensah has commended the chiefs and people of the Techiman traditional council for initiating the establishment of the Nkwantanan cultural village to preserve and sustain their cultural heritage and to educate the community to appreciate their indigenous culture. The project which is estimated to cost 2million dollars is being undertaken by the Techiman Traditional Council in partnership with the Archeological department of the University of Ghana, Legon, the department of architectural development and ecological studies of the KNUST and the Michigan University of the USA. The minister was answering a question in parliament by the MP for Techiman South, Hon. Simons Addai on the Ministry�s plans to assist the chiefs and people of Techiman in the establishment of the cultural village. Mr. Alex Asum Ahensah said, his Ministry is ready to support the project when estimates of the project are submitted to the ministry for inclusion in its 2010 budget.
