MTN FA Cup: Kotoko 3 -1 Aduana Stars: Holders Beat Aduana Stars To Progress To Finals

Two goals from defender Christopher Bonney and a goal by midfielder Michael Akuffo was all Kotoko needed to progress to the finals of the 2015 MTN FA Cup competition.

The Porcupine Warriors booked a place at the finals after defeating Aduana Stars 3-1 at the Sunyani Coronation Park on Friday afternoon.

Full-back Christopher Bonney opened the scoring for Kotoko in the 31st minute with a thunderous volley from 35-yards to beat goalkeeper Stephen Adams in post for Aduana Stars.

The Champions who had dominated the entire 45 minutes of the game managed to get their second goal in the 64th minute when Christopher Bonney converted a penalty kick to get his second goal of the day after striker Obed Owusu had been brought down in the 18-yard box by Aduana Stars defender Abdul Ganiyu.

Aduana Stars were awarded a penalty after a ball struck the hands of Kotoko defender Akwasi Acheampong in the 18-yard box. Defender Godfred Saka made no mistake as he expertly converted to give his side a lifeline.

Controversy set in as goalkeeper Stephen Adams was shown a yellow card having deliberately pulled down Kotoko striker Dauda Mohammed on the edge of the box.

Midfielder Michael Akuffo took the opportunity as he struck to beat Stephen Adams who failed to get his full hands on the ball to increase the tally for the defending Champions.

The  result thus see Kotoko advance to their fourth consecutive MTN FA Cup finals as they awaits the winner between Accra Hearts of Oak and Medeama SC.
