Three In Trouble Over Alleged Assault Of Policeman

A driver and his mate together with a farmer have run into trouble with the law for allegedly assaulting a policeman at Nyinahin in the Atwima-Mponua District of the Ashanti Region.

Michael Nartey, Matthew Badu and Kwaku Agyapong have already appeared before the Nyinahin Magistrate Court charged with assault and abetment of crime.

They all pleaded not guilty to the charge and were each granted GHȼ10,000 bail with a surety, to re-appear on Monday, July, 20.

Police Chief Inspector Sampson Cobbina told the court presided over by Mr. Sam Nibi that the incident happened on July 2nd at about 0130 hours.

He said the victim was on guard duty at the Amanano Rural Bank when a Mercedes Benz bus driven by Nartey pulled up in-front the bank to pick some passengers.

The officer asked him to move the bus from the unauthorized parking place but he refused and insulted the policemen.

Nartey was later joined by his mate Badu and Agyepong to physically assault the officer.

His colleagues at the Nyinahin police station heard of the attack and quickly moved in to arrest the culprits.
