A ten-year-old girl of Koforidua -Anlo Town in the Eastern Region was admitted to the Koforidua Government Hospital for almost a week after being allegedly defiled by a 75-year- old man, Yaw Kuagbedzi, popularly known as Teato.

The victim developed serious complications in her private part which made her bedridden, compelling the mother to rush her to the Koforidua Government hospital, after narrating her ordeal.

The victim said she was threatened with death by the suspect not to disclose the matter, hence, she kept mute over the incident despite the severe injury to her private part.

Narrating her ordeal to the DAILY HERITAGE, the victim said she was sent to the suspect to buy ‘pure water.’ However, when she got there, the suspect allegedly forcibly had sex with her and threatened her not to disclose to anyone or she will die.

The victim, a week later became very ill and unable to walk. Upon interrogation, she narrated her ordeal to the mother, but the mother refused to report to the Police. Instead, she took the victim to the hospital, but was directed by the Doctors at the facility to bring police medical forms before the victim could be attended to.

This compelled the mother to report to the police. The suspect has, however, denied the allegation and threatened to invoke curses on the family. This has put fear in the family to proceed to ensure that the law takes its course.

When Supt Richardson Kumeko, police regional commander, was contacted, he revealed that the family was yet to report the incident with the hospital forms to the appropriate authorities.
