NDC Asks Ursula Owusu To Showcase Her Projects

The Communicators of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the Ablekuma West Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, have questioned what the sitting New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Madam Ursula Owusu, uses her share of the Common Fund for.

According to them, the MP draws funds from the National Health Insurance Fund among others as an MP, but the NDC, since 2013 has seen nothing, except the formidable projects embarked on by the Mayor of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA).

This came to the fore, when Communications Officers of the Constituency met to take stock and to chart the way forward for the party going into election 2016 at a ceremony in Accra under the auspices of the Regional Communications office of the party.

The ceremony was attended by Solomon Nkansah, Director of Communications, Kwaku Boahen, Deputy Communications Officer, Derrick Adjei, a Deputy Coordinator of National Youth Authority, and Francis Nortey, Deputy Greater Accra Regional Communications Director.

The rest are, Chameleon Dickson, Constituency Organizer, William Ayiku Ocansey, Constituency Secretary of Ablekuma West. All the executives present took turns to address the gathering of the NDC Constituency Communicators drawn from the various wards of the Constituency.

On his part, Mr Bright Ahoto, Director of Communication for Ablekuma West, said since the MP was elected, she has not fashion out any developmental plan for the Constituency, except the projects embarked upon by the Government.

He said, whereas other MPs in the 23 Constituencies of the region, are using their share of the Common Fund to build infrastructure for their constituents, Ursula Owusu, since 2013 has nothing to show for as the political leader of the Constituency.

He challenged Madam Owusu to produce a list of projects, she has embarked on as an MP, “she has nothing to show except the AMA projects spread around in the area’’
He warned that the NDC this time, would not sit aloof for the NPP to come and claim credit for what it has not done over the years.

He explained, even though the party considers the Ablekuma seat as an orphan seat, it has invested heavily in terms of infrastructure.

He said, there was a three-page document that has catalogued the projects embarked on by the NDC in the area since it assumed office in 2009 and urged members to read it.

He called on the officers to trumpet the good works of the party at the grassroot level and leave the issues of the ‘dumsor’ as being drum to the hilt by some elements in NPP for the government communicators to deal with.

He added that the declining Cedi is being salvaged and very soon the NPP would have nothing to say as the projects are there for the party to show as a social democratic party going into election 2016

Mr Daniel Quainoo, Constituency Chairman of Ablekuma West in a welcome address said, 2016 was not an easy task, but would be made easy if the communications officers of the party take up the mantle of propagating the works of the party.

He reminded them to go and trumpet the works of the party for President John Mahama to win more votes and beat Nana Akufo –Addo for the second time.
