Stop Blaming Prez Mahama Solely For Ghana's Problems - Fred Agbenyo

NDC Deputy Communications Director, Fred Agbenyo has called on Ghanaians and the opposition New Patriotic Party not to solely blame President John Mahama for the woes of the economy.

Making his submissions on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo", Fred Agbenyo was confident the President is working assiduously to resolve the economic crises.

One key measure, he noted, is the current rise in the Ghana cedi.

According to him, the Mahama government deserves credit for ensuring that the cedi appreciates against major currencies on the stock exchange.

However, he cautioned the opposition party not to toot their own horn and create the impression that they are the "masters of the management of the economy."

He opined that despite the redenomination of the cedi under the erstwhile Kufour regime, the cedi still depreciated in value against the major currencies.

So, to him, the fall in the currency is not peculiar to the NDC-Mahama government.

"If you were that good, why did Ghanaians vote against you?” he questioned the NPP leadership and members.

In his concluding remarks, Fred Agbenyo was optimistic President John Mahama will surely solve the economic challenges before his tenure elapses.

“We have a social contract with the people of Ghana. And that mandate we’re in service to fulfill. We will not allow anybody to sidetrack us or to say anything that will distract us…We’re not interested in just fixing things for the sake of fixing. We want to solve the problem. We want to get to the bottom of the problem…President Mahama cannot solely be blamed” for the economic crises; “nevertheless he has taken the responsibility that he’s the man in charge.”
