I am Praying For Divine Intervention - Napo

Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia South, Mathew Opoku Prempeh is sceptical about government's ability to end the power crisis by the end of the year.

According to him, claims that an emergency power plant from Turkey will bring some respite to Ghanaians is just a hoax. To buttress his point, the Manhyia MP said government on Tuesday July 14, 2015 sought Parliament's approval to acquire an emergency power plant in spite of assurances to end the power crisis soon.

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) is currently shedding load following the energy crisis known in local parlance as dumsor. Minister of Power, Dr. Kwabena Donkor who has put his job on the line is confident measures being put in place will bring an end to dumsor.

But speaking on Asempa FM Tuesday, Mathew Opoku Prempeh said he is praying for a divine intervention. In his view, the supposed effort by government to end the energy crisis is not yielding any positive results. Napo as he is popularly called said he is being a doubting Thomas because of the history of the Mahama-led National Democratic Congress (NDC) government when it comes to promises. He hoped this time President Mahama will surprise all the doubting Thomases and end dumsor. “I pray for a breakthrough to solve dumsor because Ghanaians are suffering and businesses are collapsing” he bemoaned.
