Two Fulani herdsmen suspected to be behind a string of robbery attacks at Bebu in the Atwima-Kwanwoma District have been arrested and are being held by the police in Kumasi.
Ibrahim Amidu and Mohammed Abdulai reportedly carried out the raids from June 22 and June 28. Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Kwaku Osei Ampofo Duku, Deputy Ashanti Regional Commander, told a news briefing in Kumasi that their arrest followed a tip off.
He said an unregistered single-barreled short gun was seized from them and they have already been identified by some of the robbery victims.
The pair reportedly attacked a businessman and his family at Nkoransa near Bebu and escaped with mobile phones, laptop computer and cash on June 22.
They later robbed a man who has specialised in laying of floor tiles and a trader at Adumasa, amid firing of gunshots to scare away people in the neighbourhood.
ACP Ampofo Duku said the pair would be arraigned as soon as the police are done with their investigations.
The police also apprehended one Akwasi Boafo, who was found with 13 parcels of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.
He was carrying the substance on a Mercedes Sprinter bus and intercepted on the Kumasi-Obuasi road on June 21, at about 1115 hours.
Boafo confirmed ownership of the narcotic drug and claimed he has been supplying the substance to his farm hands to give them extra-energy to work on the farm.
He would soon be put before the court to answer for his crime.
