Ataa Ayi Was My Bosom Friend - Ex Ghana Captain Stephen Appiah Reveals

Former Black Stars captain Stephen Appiah has revealed that imprisoned criminal Ataa Ayi was his friend during his childhood days. According to the ex-Juventus star, he grew up together with Ataa Ayi in chorkor a suburb in Accra. Ataa Ayi whose birth name is Ayi Ayittey is currently serving 160 years imprisonment at the Ankaful Maximum security prisons in the central regional capital of Cape-Coast on different charges of robbery and connivance for robbery. Appiah in an interview with Starr Fm�s Bola Ray revealed that the notorious criminal was his bossom friend and could have been an armed robber if not for football. "Ataa Ayi that everybody is talking about was my friend that I ate with," Appiah said. �I was with him most a times and we played together but because of football I didn�t engage myself in such acts.� Atta Ayi popularly known among Ghanaians was incarcerated in 2005 for several criminal acts. The 35-year-old who was known to be a ruthless armed robber and committed several atrocities, robbed and terrorized Ghanaians as well as foreigners in the country. The convict is said to have repented as he acts as the Church leader in prison.
