Armed Robber, Buyer Jailed 15 And 3 Years Respectively

An armed robber and the receiver of his stolen booty have been jailed 15 and three years respectively by a Teshie Magistrate Court.

The armed robber, Richard Abbey, and the recipient of the stolen goods, Paul Ofori, were apprehended by the Teshie Police Command when Richard was arrested in another robbery case.

According to the Teshie District Police Commander, DSP Simon Agbodeka, on June 20 Richard and some other suspects who are at large met and decided to embark on an operation.

The gang, armed with a locally manufactured pistol and cutlasses, attacked an accountant (name withheld) at Teshie Demo Last Stop.

Speaking on how the robbers gained access to the house, DSP Agbodeka stated that the robbers scaled over the wall and used a cement block to break the burglar proof.

On entering the room, the robbers attacked the complainant and made away with an LG flat screen TV, two laptops, a wedding ring, an amount of GH₵850, an external hard drive, a Samsung Galaxy phone and a Samsung Galaxy Note 2.

On June 29, Richard was arrested in a different case, and through police intelligence he was found to have been involved in the June 20 robbery.

During interrogation, Richard admitted the offence and took the police through a demonstration of how they gained access to the house when he was sent to the place to corroborate his statement.

Richard sent police to Paul’s house to effect his arrest. In Paul’s caution statement, he admitted to buying the stolen items, and a search of his house revealed various laptops and other items he confessed to have bought from Richard.
