Uncle Ebo Whyte @ 61

Uncle Ebo Whyte, a renowned playwright and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Roverman Productions, has celebrated his 61st birthday in Accra.

Uncle Ebo Whyte has written and directed over 20 plays which include ‘Unhappy Wives; Confused Husbands’, ‘Terms of Divorce’, ‘Caught in the Act’, ‘Life is Some Way’, ‘The Last Flight’, ‘Forbidden’, among others, which have become reference points in many lives.

It is clear from the numbers attending the quarterly Roverman Productions that his stories are close to home as audiences enjoy laughing, crying and reciting lines together.

James Ebo Whyte, popularly called Uncle Ebo, is known nationwide as an accomplished and award-winning playwright and highly sought-after motivational speaker.

Over the last 18 years, Uncle Ebo has spoken into the heart of this nation through the ‘Rover Report’, now Food for Thought, his bi-weekly programme on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show, which has inspired people, grown leaders and helped shaped the lives of many in Ghana today.

Uncle Ebo constantly challenges Ghanaians to think more about the world they live in and the contribution they make to it.

The awards he has received for this contribution to society reflect the impact he has in a range of areas; he currently holds the Family Values Award, The Legacy Person of the Year, the Women in Creative Industry Award for his positive portrayal of women, the Springboard Personality of the Year for 2011 and most recently, the UT Ghanaian Entrepreneur Foundation’s Entrepreneur award for Most Promising Entrepreneur for 2011.

He is a speaker and resource person who has helped in the team building efforts and rebranding processes for many companies. He is known to have helped numerous people in all walks of life through his hard hitting, inspirational and realistic presentations.

On Monday, before his presentation on Food for Thought on Joy FM, the production team, led by Nhyira and Uncle Ebo’s son, Kwaku Osei Korankye Asiedu, presented him with a portrait painting of himself and a cake to his surprise.

The team sang a happy birthday song to him and played him his favourite song from Lucky Dube.

Uncle Ebo, speaking on the holiday edition of Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM said, “Ghana is a blessed country, we may not often see the evidence of it but when you travel out or live outside the country, it will not escape you, you will know this country is blessed. The reason why we don’t feel blessed is because all of us are not doing the best we can but this land, this nation, is blessed.”
