DUMSOR: Parliament To Get New Generator

Ghana’s Parliament House was Wednesday plunged into darkness following a power outage. The situation forced the First Deputy Speaker, Ebo Barton Oduro to suspend proceedings.

Kate Addo, Acting Director of public affairs, explaining what happened in the House said “usually when the lights go off, the generator comes on immediately….however this time there was a fault with the generator….it took about an hour to fix”.

A similar incident occurred about six months ago leading the Speaker of Parliament, Doe Adjaho to set up a committee to investigate the power outage in the House and the failure to have the generator working.

Speaking to Kwami Sefa Kayi in an interview Thursday, Kate Addo disclosed that even though the Speaker had set up a committee, they are yet to submit their report…‘officially…however, they (board) have given the go ahead to purchase a new one”
