NPP Is Not Giving Ghanaians Hope - Kwesi Pratt

Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper says the unending wrangling in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is the creation of party members.

Placing the blame squarely at the doorstep of the NPP, Kwesi Pratt Jnr. insisted that those hurling accusations at the party executives are the same people trying hard to destroy the party secretly.

“NPP are their own enemies…I find it hard to believe that their opponents or someone outside the party is destroying them because I know and feel that NPP members are destroying NPP” he declared on Adom Thursday July 23, 2015.

NPP has been hit with months of bitter relations among the leadership of the party, especially after the death of Adams Mahama, Upper East Regional chairman of the party, through an acid attack.

In an attempt to pour oil on the troubled waters, former President Agyekum Kufuor convened a meeting between the leadership of the NPP and some senior clergymen at his residence in Accra in order but this has led to further recrimination after the outcome of the meeting was leaked.

According to sources, some yet to be identified persons recorded voices the meeting and are circulating them on social media, all in an effort to bring down the flagbearer.

Though the former president has denied that the meeting was a secret one as claimed by some media outlets, the Insight Editor stressed the need for party members to be circumspect when it comes to matters of the party.

He reminded the NPP they would be campaigning on the achievements of the former President in the 2016 elections "and so if they continue painting the man black and destroying him, then who do they expect to use as a means of winning the elections”.

He noted: “If NPP goes to an election with 100 percent of their internal strength they cannot win any election and the same applies to NDC because they need the support of the other parties to win, but if NPP should continue like this, then you are indeed telling Ghanaians that you want to  reduce your strength.

“The behavior of NPP now is not giving anyone any hope. How can you organize a meeting and have someone secretly recording proceedings? Even if it’s for the good or the bad, I believe trust has been broken down completely” he asserted.
