Davido Faces 15 Years Jail Term If...

Following the ongoing investigation by the National Drug and Law Enforcement Agency on pop singer, Davido, for depictions of substance suspected to be hard drugs on his ‘Fans Mi’ video, recent developments have shown that the music star risks jail term if found guilty.

Few days ago, Davido’s manager, Kamal Ajiboye in an interview claimed NDLEA have not contacted them in anyway and that they read the news on the pages of newspapers. He further added that when they wrote the script for the video, it was not to portray Davido as a drug trafficker.

In a thrilling twist, NDLEA’s head of public affairs, Mr. Mitchell Otufoyeju has said in a latest interview with popular lifestyle magazine, Encomium that Davido legally risks a 15 year jail term as a penalty for his offence if found guilty. In his words, “legally, he risks 15 years imprisonment. The NDLEA Act section 14 sub section A states that anyone who incites, promises, or induces any other person by any means whatsoever to commit any of the offences under the NDLEA Act is liable.”

A further check by ERave on the subsection B of the act states “that any person who conspires with, aids, abets, counsels, attempts to commit or is an accessory to any act or offence referred to in this act shall be guilty of an offence under this act and liable on conviction to be sentenced to imprisonment for a term not less than 15 years and not exceeding 25 years.”
