Oly Win In Accra

Substitute Kwame Boateng yesterday emerged the hero at the Accra Sports Stadium as he powered Great Olympics to a 2-1 victory over Medeama with his brace.

Moments after he replaced injured Daniel Appiah in the 14th minute, Boateng received a pass from skipper Godwin Attram in the box, and without wasting time, he planted the ball cooly beyond the reach of goalkeeper Tagoe Muntari in post for Medeama to the delight of the few fans dotted at the stadium.

The goal, however, brought out the best from the visitors who took charge of the midfield with Nathaniel Asamoah, Kwesi Donsu and Jacob Appiah combining beautifully in attack , causing Olympics defenders pivoted around Dan Quaye to retreat on most occasions.

Olympics, however, should have increased the tally in the 16th minute during a counter-attack, but Godwin Attram who was gifted with that opportunity messed it up with a feeble shot which gave Tagoe Muntari no problem.

Both teams continued to attack after recess, but it was Medeama who proved more aggressive and succeeded in reducing the tally in the 54th minute when Isaac Nyarko of Olympics handled the ball in the box.

Referee Eku Boateng who initially whistled for an indirect free kick dramatically changed his mind and pointed to the spot, for Nathaniel Asamoah to score the much needed equaliser. Kwame Boated scored easily to give his side the much needed points.

With the fans rooting for Olympics, they accepted the challenge, and started attacking from the wings, and in one of such attacks in the 64th minute, an Olympics attacker who had entered the box appeared to have dived after losing the ball, but the referee pointed to the spot., Kwame Boated scored easily to give his side the much needed points.
