Alhaji Dori Replies Nana Addo: Voters Register Is Intact, Work Hard And Bring Your Party Together

In a meeting with the UK Branch of the New Patriotic Party, the presidential candidate for the party called on the Electoral Commission (EC) to scrap the current voters register and compile a new one.

Nana Akufo-Addo foresees political parties disputing over electoral results should the EC ignore his counsel and use the current register in 2016.

But a member of the National Democratic Congress, Alhaji Ibrahim Dori has slammed the opposition leader for making the call and directed him to focus on patching the cracks weakening his party rather than about the voter register.

In an interview with Peacefmonline.com, Alhaji Dori stated that the continuous lamentation of Nana Addo and the NPP over the credibility of our voters register goes a long way to show that they have conceded defeat ahead of the 2016 election.

Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has said Ghana’s democracy which he claims cannot be toyed with and for this reason, it is important for the country to have credible register so that results declared after the election would be acceptable to all parties without dispute.

This is a call disliked by Alhaji Dori. He claims the EC has insisted that there is no need for a new register to be compiled.

He explained that the EC has disclosed that it does its own internal cleansing on regular basis and have exhibited the register for persons doubting its credibility to challenge unqualified persons at the various polling stations across the country.

He therefore advised Nana Addo to work hard in putting his party the NPP together and forget about telling the EC to scrap the voters’ register for a new one.
