No Head Or Tail In Attempt To Resolve NPP Infighting - Former Majority Leader

Former Majority Leader of Parliament during the Kufuor’s administration, Hon. Abraham Ossei Aidoo is not certain when the internal wrangling his party [NPP] will end so the party can begin working towards victory in the upcoming 2016 general elections.

According to the former NPP MP for Tema West, if the leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is not able to run the party effectively through its internal structures, it will be impossible to run the whole country.

Speaking on Okay Fm’s Ade Akye Abia Morning Show, Hon. Ossei Aidoo says NPP cannot go into 2016 election battle this way with the intention to win the election with a disjointed leadership.

This is not the first time leaders in NPP have been hit by one form of misunderstanding but this is becoming too pervasive; you don’t see the head and tail of the attempt to resolve the situation. If you listen to the party members at the grassroots, they are despondent and feeling helpless; it extends to those Ghanaians who want NPP to come to power in 2016”, he bemoaned.

He asserted his worry is a reflection of what he sees at the grassroots across the country; insisting “it does not appear to me or other NPP members that if we go into battle this way, it will be easy for us…this victory is ours to lose”.

He feared that “day in day out, people are losing hope in NPP”; pleading with the party leadership to eschew their differences and merge as one body because Ghana needs NPP now more than ever.

To him, he is not bothered about the factionalism in NPP but his major concern is centered on the leadership and the party’s inability to give the leaders due support and respect they need to function as a team.

“We must let them function, perform their constitutional roles; we must sanction peacefully and appropriately when someone flout the laws of the party. The leaders must respect each other’s roles in the party and the party members must respect the leaders as a collective. This is the only way we can have victory in 2016 election”, he pontificated.
