Former Majority Leader: NPPs Unity Must Start From Paul Afoko And Nana Akufo-Addo

Former New Patriotic Party [NPP] Member of Parliament for Tema West Constituency, Abraham Osei Aidoo is convinced the key to smoking the peace pipe in the largest opposition party lie in the hands of the National Chairman, Paul Afoko and the Flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo.

According to the former Majority Leader of Parliament during the erstwhile Kufuor administration, though there will be individual differences among the three leaders, naming Nana Akufo-Addo, Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyepong, their personal interest must not override the collective interest of the party and the country at large.

Speaking on Okay Fm’s "Ade Akye Abia" Morning Show, Abraham Osei Aidoo said the happenings in the NPP cannot go beyond the three leaders of the party; thus they must continue the course former President Kufuor started in ensuring peace and harmony in the party.

He assured the quality and good standing men in the New Patriotic Party [NPP] will work hard as one united body to ensure the rank and file of the NPP is in good shape for power in 2016 as it will be impossible to run the country if the leaders cannot run the party well.

He was emphatic that the unity of the NPP largely depend on the National Chairman, Paul Afoko and the Presidential candidate of the party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo; insisting they must find any means necessary to unite the party.

The unity of the party must start from the chairman Paul Afoko and the flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo; the two of them must find any means necessary to unite the party….these are the two key personalities who can bring unity to the party,” he urged.

He however commended his Presidential Candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo for the interest he has shown to sacrifice to ensure peace and unity prevail in the party; expecting that the National Chairman Paul Afoko follows suit.
