What's The Difference Between GMA Gen Sec And The "Madman" On The Street If...? - NDC Guru Quizzes

Deputy General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), George Lawson has lashed out at the General Secretary of the Ghana Medical Association (GMA), Dr. Frank Serebuor over his verbal attack on an NDC communicator.

Dr. Frank Serebuor, speaking in an interview on Hot FM last Friday, spewed turned his anger on the NDC activist, Yeboah Boateng, who had initially dared the striking doctors to lay down their working tools and resign.

Yeboah Boateng had sought to incite the public when he stressed that they (doctors) were insensitive to Ghanaians and the Mahama-led government.

He bemoaned what he believed is ingratitude on the part of the doctors despite all attempts by the current administration to revamp their conditions of service.

Clearly quite irritated with the GMA's stance, he repeatedly charged them to stop work, stating emphatically that "Ghanaians are tired of them," and have had enough of their tantrums.

Reacting to the comments by the NDC Activist, Dr. Serebuor described him as an "unintelligent" government communicator, stressing that if he were intelligent, he would have probably become a doctor.

"If they want us to descend into the gutters, we shall descend into the gutter with them...When you go to school and you are taught sense like I was taught, I don't do those things," Monday edition of the Daily Post newspaper reportedly published.

Later in an interview Kwami Sefa Kayi, host of Peace FM's "Kokrokoo", Dr. Serebuor admitted passing such remarks and stated quite emphatically that he does not regret his action.

But addressing Dr. Serebuor’s comment, the NDC deputy Chief Scribe told OkayFM's Kwame Nkrumah Tikese on the "Ade Akye Abia" show that the GMA's General Secretary is an uncultured gentleman who lacks the ability to press home the demands of a group of people in the right manner.

He maintained that “indeed everybody in the country including the common man on the street is tired of the constant threats from the doctors”.

He also debunked Dr Serebuor's assertion that all NDC communicators are better paid than the doctors; pointing out that they (government spokespersons) are only carrying out a sacrificial job for the party.

He (Dr Serebuor) did not speak well as a professional medical doctor; someone who is professionally trained will not speak the way Dr. Serebuor did...he is the General Secretary of a noble group and he is supposed to speak with decorum; this is not the best way to press home your demands….indeed we are all tired including the people on the street, the way he spoke, I don’t see the difference between him and a madman talking,” he fumed.

George Lawson further stated that Dr Serebour's decision to respond in equal measure to the NDC activist's earlier remarks disqualifies him from serving as the mouthpiece of the GMA.
