I Blame Gov't Partly For The GMA Strike - Kwesi Pratt

Editor-in-Chief of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr. has blamed the government partly for the strike action by the Ghana Medical Association (GMA).

Contributing to Peace FM's "Kokrokoo", Kwesi Pratt blamed the government for demotivating some doctors from Cuba through poor practices and behaviour.

He alluded to some good measures that Ex-President J.A Kufour put in place to revamp the health sector.

Mr. Pratt recounted that during the erstwhile Kufour regime, some doctors were brought into the country from Cuba to supplement health delivery services in the country.

According to him, the good initiative by former President Kufour was however thwarted by the ruling party (then in opposition) which through its actions and inactions only made it possible to drive the doctors away.

Kwesi Pratt Jnr., having some regrets, believed those Cuban doctors would have filled the gap that the striking medical doctors have left because the government has failed to meet their needs.
