Ghana’s mission in Cote d’Ivoire, on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, has donated a cash of CFA 2,650,000 and $1,000 to the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) to be given to the families of the June 3 twin disasters.

The amount is made up of donation from Ghana’s ambassador to Cote d’Ivoire, His Excellency General Peter Augustine Blay (Rtd), and the staff of the embassy, as well as the Ghanaian community in Cote d’Ivoire.

Ambassador Leslie Christian, Chief Director, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, during the presentation of the cash donation to NADMO, mentioned that the flood and fire accidents of June 3 brought untold hardship not only to the affected families but to the entire nation.

The enormity of the disaster, he said, left an indelible mark on the collective national conscience of all Ghanaians.

He added that as such, the least we can do as Ghanaians is to put all efforts we can marshal to bear to support the victims and their affected families.

The acting National Director for NADMO, Brigadier General Francis Vib Sanziri, receiving the donation, mentioned that though some of the victims are getting back on track with life, some are still counting their loss, hence the need to support them.

He added that it is the responsibility of every Ghanaian to support the victims of the unfortunate incident.

On behalf of the victims, he thanked all the contributors of the cash donation for their kind gesture.
