Kumasi: Police Seek Support To Arrest Suspect

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has appealed to the general public to assist with information on one Junior and his accomplice who robbed a member of their gang, suspect Augustine Owusu, of a Samsung mobile phone, which the latter had stolen from one Madam Susana Owusu at Ohwimase-Kwadaso.

Master Owusu is reported to have attacked the victim, a trader, at gunpoint on a walkway behind St. Peter's School on July 19 and robbed her of her mobile phone, a cash amount of GH¢100 and a purse.

Suspect Owusu, sensing danger from some passersby after a failed rape attempt on the victim in a nearby bush, bolted, but left behind his Nokia mobile phone, which had his personal photograph as the screensaver.

Madam Owusu, after recovering her purse at the robbery scene, lodged an official complaint at the Suntreso Police Station, only for the station to be informed the next morning about a victim who was receiving treatment at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital's emergency unit after being shot.

The police identified the victim as suspect Owusu, whose phone they had in their custody.

During questioning, Owusu confessed to the robbery, saying he was robbed and shot by two members of his gang while escaping. The two, Junior and his accomplice, have since been at large.
