Assemblies Of God Pastor Dies In Road Accident

The Pastor of the Poano branch of the Assemblies of God Church in the Amansie West district of Ashanti, on Tuesday morning lost his life when his vehicle collided head-on with a mini bus at Ofoase Kokoben.

Pastor Moses Addai, 38, died on the spot with his body badly mutilated due to the impact of the collision.

Six other persons who sustained various degrees of injuries have been sent to hospital for treatment.

The Pastor, who was heading towards Kumasi from Anwiankwanta, tried to overtake a number of vehicles at a go and in the process collided head-on with the oncoming mini bus which was heading towards Anwiankwanta.

Before the collision, Mr Addai hit the side of another vehicle which was being driven by one Madam Comfort Sarkodie, and sent her off the road into a ditch.

The Bekwai District Commander of Police, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mr Edward Obeng Boateng, told Graphic Online that the accident happened around 6:40 am on Tuesday.

He said the deceased was in charge of a Pontiac Vibe vehicle with registration number AS 140 – 15. The police gave the registration number of the mini bus, as AW 2076 – 11. It had two passengers on board in addition to the driver.

ASP Boateng said Madam Sarkodie and two other occupants of her vehicle were sent to the Dominase SDA hospital where they were treated and discharged while the occupants of the mini bus were sent to the Bekwai Government Hospital.

He said one Richard Owusu, aged 29 said to be the driver of the sprinter bus was on admission at the Abinkyiman Hospital near Anwiankwanta receiving treatment.

According to him, the mutilated body of the deceased has since been deposited at the Jacobu Hospital mortuary.
