Policy Analyst of the People's National Convention (PNC), Atik Mohammed has cautioned President John Dramani Mahama not to toy with the lives of Ghanaians.

Commenting on the strike action by the Ghana Medical Association (GMA), Atik Mohammed urged the President to value the lives of Ghanaians.

According to him, his tough speech regarding his government's refusal to factor the doctors' conditions of service in the government's budget may have dire consequences on the economy.

“If you say, as for you; you don’t mind what the political consequences are but the lives of Ghanaians are important. If you are ready to lose your elections, very well after all Ghanaians are suffering. If you decide to lay your tools, you won’t work again; lay down your tools. That is fine but it should not be at the cost of any Ghanaian life.”

He advised the President to stop his "dead goat syndrome" from manifesting in the doctors' issue because it may collapse his government and further collapse the State.

“That acquired syndrome, it is worse in my opinion. When it comes to governance, you can liken that syndrome to HIV in normal life…If you acquire that syndrome in governance, it will collapse your government and collapse the State…And the syndrome is beginning to show signs that it is now gone deep. And the system entirely is beginning to get infected by such syndrome," he said.
